Burak Özgüner Animal Rights Center (BurHak) was founded on November 9, 2020 with the support of animal rights activists. The establishment of BurHak marked the first year anniversary of the loss of Burak Özgüner, a defender of the right to live and an animal liberation activist who contributed greatly to the animal rights struggle in Turkey. The Center works to strengthen the rights-based approach in the animal liberation movement, make speciesism visible and open to discussion, and increase awareness so that animal rights, human rights and ecological struggle are handled together. In addition, the center provides space, support and cooperation to activists to gather for activities and meetings, where animal rights defenders have priority.
